BMC Software Inc. this week released the last components of its Patrol 7 systems management infrastructure, delivering two new centralized consoles for managing resources such as applications, databases and operating systems.
The new Web Edition of Patrol Central Operator allows access to Patrol via a Web browser, with no additional software needed. The Microsoft Windows Edition of the product integrates with other Microsoft Corp. software and offers Patrol users familiar Windows interface elements such as toolbars, menus and drag-and-drop capability.
In December, Houston-based BMC released another promised piece of its refreshed Patrol infrastructure, called Distribution Server, which is intended to ease deployments of BMC products.
The new server software allows customers to install and uninstall products on remote servers from a central location, to schedule distributions for set dates and times, to create heterogenous distributions of both Windows and Unix versions of BMC products and to view reports on deployment status and history.
The Windows and Web editions of Patrol Central Operator each are priced at US$3,500. The BMC Distribution Server is included with the consoles.
