Telstra signs $83m upgrade deal

Telstra has awarded an $83 million contract for the upgrade of its Cable Plant Records (CPR) system to Australian engineering company Transfield Services.

The five-year project has four parts covering system replacement, support, data quality and data replacement.

CPR is an application that records and reports information about Telstra's wire line network and its geographic location.

Transfield managing director Peter Watson said the company played a vital role in Telstra's operations and network management.

It is understood Transfield will also collaborate with IBM Global Services on the implementation.
