Telstra now has 211,000 customers with connections to the National Broadband Network, the telco said today.
The number of customers on the network means that it's "starting to become more material" for Telstra, CEO Andy Penn said during a Q&A session following today's full year results briefing.
The telco added 126,000 NBN customers in FY15.
The majority of Telstra's NBN customers -- 161,000 -- have voice and data bundles. However, 9000 have data-only NBN services and 41,000 have voice-only services.
During the year Telstra and NBN Co signed revised Definitive Agreements to make possible the Coalition government's vision of a 'multi-technology mix' network that employs fibre-to-the-node (FTTN), fibre-to-the-basement (FTTB) and hybrid-fibre coaxial (HFC) as well as fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP).
For FY15 Telstra income related to the DAs came in at $811 million, up 26.7 per cent.
"[I'd] also highlight that NBN DA income doesn't represent all of the income that we receive from NBN Co," the telco's chief financial officer, Warwick Bray, told today's results briefing
"Outside the NBN Definitive Agreements, we also received industry solutions revenue through the two commercial arrangements," the CFO said, referring to the planning and design services agreement signed by NBN and Telstra in December and the joint deployment works contract.
"We received additional sales revenue for wholesale Ethernet transmission and facilities access," Bray added.
As of 30 June, premises serviceable on the NBN stood at 1,143,000 (648,000 brownfields and 188,000 greenfields on the fixed-line network and 268,000 on fixed wireless).
At that time some 485,000 premises had active NBN services.
Telstra this morning reported net profit after tax of $4.3 billion for the full year.
In the 2014-15 financial year Telstra added 664,000 retail mobile net new services and 189,000 retail fixed broadband net new services, the telco said.
Correction: This article originally reported Telstra had 221,000 NBN customers as of 30 June. The correct figure is 211,000.
