The NSW Budget 2015-16 will allocate $362 million to Service NSW for the roll-out of 27 more service centres and technology enhancements to the Service NSW electronic payment platform.
The budget will be handed down next week.
NSW minister for finance, services and property Dominic Perrottet said the investment will include $97.5 million for re-engineering the Service NSW electronic payment platform to make credit card payments faster.
Announced in April, the platform will include support for PayPal and Apple Pay when it becomes available in Australia.
An additional 27 service centres will be rolled out across metropolitan and regional areas in the next financial years. By mid-2015, there will be 36 service centres in the state, he said.
“Service options have lifted, access to services has increased, waiting times have been cut and customer satisfaction is at 98 per cent,” said Perrottet.
“The bad old days of going to many different locations, standing in long queues or filling in multiple forms to simply renew your licence or apply for a birth certificate are over.”
The government department recently introduced a Service NSW App that gives customers access to real-time waiting data so they can plan visits to centres.
