Software vendor Veritas Software Corp. announced Thursday that it has acquired storage software from NTP Software to be integrated with its storage resource management products.
The company acquired NTP's Storage Reporter for an "immaterial" amount, a Veritas spokesman says. Storage Reporter offers reporting and analysis, predictive capacity modeling, quota reporting and cost allocation and chargeback. It fills a hole in Veritas' SANPoint Control storage management software.
Veritas says the product, branded as Veritas Storage Reporter, will be available in 30 days. Integration of Storage Reporter into SANPoint Control, the Veritas Volume and File System, NetBackup and the upcoming Global Operations Management, will take place over the next 18 months.
Ten employees who work on Storage Reporter at NTP will now become Veritas employees. NTP is based in Manchester, N.H. and is better known for its Quota & File Sentinel software, which lets network managers monitor and enforce disk space quotas on directories, shares and servers.
