In November, Nortel will introduce two enterprise voice-over-IP certifications targeted at those who support core VoIP technology and products. The two programs are "Support Specialist: VoIP Meridian 1 IP Enabled 25.40" and "Support Specialist: VoIP Succession CSE 1000 Release 2.0."
These certifications are the first of more than a dozen that Nortel plans to roll out this quarter and during the first quarter of 2003 (for a peek at what other designations are in the works, click here).
Support Specialist: VoIP Meridian 1 IP Enabled 25.40 and Support Specialist: VoIP Succession Communication Server for Enterprise (CSE) 1000 Release 2.0 require candidates to pass three exams. Each includes the following two exams, which Nortel recommends taking in order:
* 920-318, Meridian 1 Database - Web exam.
* 920-801, VoIP Technology - Proctored exam.
The Meridian-oriented certification also requires 921-109, Meridian 1 IP Enabled 25.40, while the CSE requires 921-104, Succession CSE 1000 Release 2.0. Both of these are proctored exams.
All required exams are available through Prometric. Web-based exams cost US$49, while proctored exams are $125. It may already be too late, but the first 50 registrants the beta versions of the Meridian 1 IP enabled 25.40 and Succession CSE 1000 Release 2.0 can take them for free.
