Overture gears up for Australian launch – announces two new appointments

<p>SYDNEY, October 22, 2003: Overture Services, a global leader in commercial search services on the Internet and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yahoo, Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO), has appointed Marcelo Silva and former Olympic athlete Dean Capobianco to its Australian operations.</p>
<p>Silva will move into the role of Marketing Manager whilst Capobianco will take up the position of Sales Director.</p>
<p>Mel Bohse, Managing Director of Overture Services Australia said, “These appointments reflect Overture’s previously announced intention to aggressively enter the Australian paid search market.”</p>
<p>As a result, both Silva and Capobianco will be completely focused on building distribution partnerships and growing Overture’s Australian advertiser base.</p>
<p>In his new role, Silva will be responsible for marketing Overture’s products and services to small-medium sized enterprises, larger corporations and advertising agencies. Additionally, Silva will manage Overture’s Australian public relations and advertising functions as well as source new Australian referral/distribution partners.</p>
<p>Silva said, “Recent movements among the major search services providers have left Australian companies unsure as to who to partner with. Therefore, my immediate goal is to educate the market about the direct impact Overture’s offering can have on a company’s bottom line.”</p>
<p>“Through Overture’s paid search listings Australian companies of all sizes will soon have access to the most affordable and effective tools to source qualified sales leads in a direct and highly-targeted manner,” he continued.</p>
<p>To compliment Silva’s efforts, Capobianco will be responsible for developing and managing commercial agreements and promoting business relationships with agencies, resellers and clients.</p>
<p>Capobianco said, “As the pioneer in commercial search services, Overture has been a profitable enterprise since 2001 and currently boasts over 100,000 global advertisers. My goal is to replicate this phenomenal performance by rapidly growing Overture’s Australian advertiser base as quickly as possible.”</p>
<p>Prior to joining Overture, Silva worked for three years at ING Direct as Internet Marketing Manager and TMP Worldwide as Internet Marketing Director for two years.</p>
<p>Over the past three years Capobianco has worked with News Interactive as National Sales Manager. Prior to this role represented Australia at both the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games as well as a number of other major athletics tournaments.</p>
