Pinterest fastest growing social platform

The number of active users on the social network grew 88 per cent year-on-year during Q2, 2013

Pinterest has become the fastest growing social platform in the world by active users, according to GlobalWebIndex.

The research firm’s Stream Social report for the second quarter of 2013 found that Pinterset active users grew 88 per cent year-on-year, overtaking Twitter as the fastest growing social platform.

During the first quarter of the year, Twitter experienced a 40 per cent increase in active users between Q2 2012 and Q1 2013.

Facebook still remains as the most popular social platform, with 69 per cent of the world’s Internet users who have an account and 62 per cent of users who actively use their account on a monthly basis.

In April, figures from Social Bakers showed that Facebook users were experiencing some fatigue. About 33 per cent of countries on Facebook saw a decline in monthly active users over the last six months ending April, compared to about 11 per cent over the last year.

Google Plus is the second most popular social platform, with about 318 million users globally and 44 per cent who are active.
