Westpac's online broking service was down again on Friday, 5 October, after being offline for most of Thursday, 27 October.
The service went down around 9am this morning and was offline for approximately an hour. A Westpac spokesperson said today's outage was not related to last week's incident which, according to Westpac, was the result of a patch being taken off the system after a 'regular upgrade'.
The spokesperson would not disclose the reason for today's outage, except to say that it was done to "ensure a consistent consumer experience".
"I think generally what happens is if [the service] is a little unstable they tend to take it down, so customers have a consistent experience rather than having it slow down or be unstable or wobbly," said the spokesperson.
Customers were again directed to the phone service and charged the lower internet broking fee for trades made over the phone.
