Vic McClelland has been hired as Optus Networks’ new managing director to manage the strategic investment in mobile infrastructure and the day-to-day running of fixed, mobile and satellite networks.

He replaces Guenther Ottendorfer who is returning to Austria to take up the role of CTO at Telekom Austria Group. Ottendorfer had been managing director since January 2011.

McClelland will report to Optus Australia consumer CEO Kevin Russell.
