Ericsson Australia has appointed Cameron Moroney as director of information technology.
In his new role, Moroney will focus on creating and capturing business value for Ericsson through IT.
Moroney has become a member of Ericsson's executive management team and reports directly to Ericsson Australia's CEO, Karl Sundstrom.
An Ericsson spokesperson told Computerworld Moroney's appointment is a new appointment above the CIO position.
Before joining Ericsson, Moroney held a number of senior positions throughout a 20-year career with BHP and was the interim CEO for B2B marketplace corProcure for a period during 2000. Moroney also held a number of senior BHP positions including program director e-business, BHP, and head of strategy and planning, BHP Services, as well as a number of senior finance positions with BHP Steel, Minerals and Petroleum businesses.
Moroney will be based at the Melbourne head quarters, with his appointment effective immediately.
