In an acquisition that will add approximately $200 million in sales to the Pacific Brands business, Pacific Dunlop Limited has announced the acquisition of Sara Lee Apparel Australasia and its range of brands in hoisery, workwear, caual clothing and intimate apparel.
A release by Pacific Dunlop said the purchase consideration was $59.8 million.
Pacific Dunlop's managing director and CEO, Rod Chadwick, said in a release that the integration of the Sara Lee Apparel operations into Pacific Dunlop would deliver significant synergies in product sourcing, warehousing, IT systems, supply chain capabilities and marketing.
Administrative systems would also be linked through Pacific Dunlop's Novare joint venture with Accenture.
Chadwick was unavailable for comment on the changes that will occur within Pacific Dunlop and Sara Lee's IT departments or with the IT systems, however, Anton McKernan, general manager corporate affairs at Pacific Dunlop said they will be trying to bring uniformity to the systems.
"As it was only announced Monday, we'll have to wait until we get into the nitty gritty' of it. But there will be integration. It doesn't mean throwing out our old systems, just integration, and looking at what Sara Lee has." Mc Kernan said. www.pacdun.com
