IBM supplies notebooks for Vic teachers

IBM has signed a $92 million contract with the Department of Employment, Education and Training Victoria (DEET) to supply notebooks and services to government teachers in the state.

Under the terms of the three-year contract, 40,000 IBM ThinkPad R30 notebooks will be supplied to teachers, beginning in November.

The contract is part of the department's Notebook for Teacher's program which aims to equip teachers with the tools necessary for teaching in the 21st century.

Last year, IBM secured the contract to install more than 1600 Intel-based servers in Victorian schools, to support their administrative systems.
