Changing e-horses in mid-stream

Broadband wireless service provider, SkyNetGlobal has announced an alliance with Swedish software developer GlobeSoft AB to enable business travellers to switch between networks on the run.

SkyNetGlobal claims to have the largest broadband wireless network in the world with 80 points of presence in 48 cities worldwide, supporting the IEEE 802.11 standard with data transmission of 2 to 11 Mbps.

The company, in conjunction with GlobeSoft, has developed an application that lets SkyNetGlobal subscribers switch between their corporate network and the SkyNetGlobal network by selecting the relevant network at boot up.

The software comes preconfigured with the SkyNetGlobal network tab and takes a snapshot of the user's network settings. During the next boot up, the subscriber is then requested to choose between networks for that session.

SkyNetGlobal's Jonathan Soon said subscribers will receive the necessary software next month.
