With resolution of the Hewlett-Packard and Compaq merger yet to be finalised, Compaq boss Paul Brandling has been selected to run the new HP in Australia.
The internal announcement was made last Saturday.
Brandling, currently VP and MD of Compaq Computer South Pacific, will officially serve as manager for the South Pacific region when the HP/Compaq merger is finalised.
Brandling was competing for the position against former HP local boss, Norman McCann who died of a heart attack early last month.
Brandling's appointment follows the selection of Compaq Computer's Paul Chan in early April as Asia Pacific regional general manager of the new-look HP operations.
