NSW Parliament starts Webcast

For those that can't get enough of the antics of our politicians, the NSW Parliament will be Webcast for the first time today.

The Minister for Information Technology, Kim Yeadon said the first Webcast, coinciding with the start of the 2002 Autumn session, will feature the formal opening of Parliament by the Governor, Marie Bashir.

"From then on, it is proposed that all sessions of both chambers of Parliament will be Webcast live over the Internet."

Parliament Webcasting has been made possible through a $276,750 grant from connect.nsw, the Government's program to make information and services available on the Internet. The NSW Parliament has also invested $295,00 in the Webcasting project, Yeadon said.

The Webcast can be found on the NSW Parliament Web site www.parliament.nsw.gov.au.
