NSW updates electoral system

The NSW State Electoral Office (SEO) has signed a $1 million contract to redevelop the Integrated Legislative Council and Local Government Election Counting Systems.

The project has been brought about by recent legislative changes passed by the state government.

Significant modification is required to the present systems as a result of the changes in preparation for the 2003 state and local government elections.

Global consulting and systems integration business Syntegra will provide both analysis and application development services.

The company has been working with the SEO for more than 10 years and is currently responsible for the ongoing management of the SEO's information technology systems.

For the past three state elections it has designed, implemented and supported the tally room on election nights along with the associated infrastructure and applications. It has also developed systems for the management and administration of the elections.
