Fed IT dept updates online image

The Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (Docita) has selected Vignette's V/Series product as part of its online solution which is targeted for launch in early July.

Fujitsu Australia will implement the solution, which will be a major component of a shared applications platform.

Keith Sheridan, senior sales director at Vignette Australia and New Zealand, said: "This is the first major redevelopment of a Federal Government Web environment using a 'third generation' tool set and technology platform."

"The department will benefit from a lower cost of content management and delivery, and visitors to the site will benefit from the site's enhanced features, with improved content accessibility and personalisation."

A department spokesperson said the project will assist Docita to meet its obligations under the Federal Government's Online strategy, which requires agencies to have 90 per cent of all appropriate services online by the end of 2001.

The spokesperson said the solution will also "go further and improve content delivery, internally and externally".
