Mortgage processing centre gets a PC refit

In a $3.3 million deal signed with EDS, Vectra Corporation will complete a PC refit of the mortgage processing centre that EDS is managing for Westpac Banking Corporation.

The project will deploy more than 1100 IBM PCs at the centre during the first quarter of 2002, replacing the existing fleet of Pentium II-class diskless workstations.

EDS executive director, South Australian Government Account, Bruce Linn said EDS had selected Vectra for its flexible service delivery and demonstrated capabilities.

In Novmeber EDS took over the centre's management, which included transitioning more than 1200 people.

Westpac established the centre, located in Adelaide, in 1996 to centralise its mortgage processing operations where it handles some 700,000 accounts.
