Cisco Systems Inc. on Tuesday announced new software to help network administrators deploy, monitor and troubleshoot security services and large-scale VPNs (virtual private networks).
The CiscoWorks2000 VPN/Security Management Solution is designed to support the security blueprint for Cisco's Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data, Cisco said in a news release.
Combined with the CiscoWorks2000 Routed WAN (RWAN) and Cisco's LAN Management Solutions, the CiscoWorks2000 VPN/Security Management Solution provides a comprehensive Internet-based management offering for conducting electronic business, the release said.
The new software provides customers with a single, integrated set of Internet-enabled tools that can be used to create a management console to monitor VPN deployments of more than 20,000 remote access users and 2,000 remote site VPN networks.
The CiscoWorks 2000 VPN/Security Management Solution brings the Cisco VPN Monitor, Resource Manager Essentials, and Cisco Secure Policy Manager to the CiscoWorks2000 product line. As a result, the software can support security technologies such as the Cisco Secure Intrusion Detection System, as well as VPN deployments of the Cisco VPN 3000 Concentrator series, the Cisco Secure Pix Firewall family, the Cisco 7100 Series VPN Router and the Cisco 7200 Series Multi-service Router.
The Cisco VPN Monitor, developed with Tivoli Systems Inc., provides dashboard views of VPN resource performance; Resource Manager Essentials provides a graphical view of operational management conditions in the network; and the Cisco Secure Policy Manager lets customers deploy perimeter security policies on Cisco Secure Pix firewalls and provides notification when security threats are detected by the Cisco Secure IDS.
The CiscoWorks2000 VPN/Security Management Solution is available from Monday for US$7,995. The CiscoWorks2000 RWAN Solution is available for $14,995. The CiscoWorks2000 LAN Management Solution is available for $19,995.
