The National Australia Bank is negotiating with Telstra subsidiary Advantra to outsource its Australian desktop services and local area network (LAN), in a deal worth $55 million.
The three-year contract will cover about 22,000 desktop computers within the National. Negotiations are expected to be completed around August this year.
The bank said it expects the deal will save the company $3 million over the contract period. Under the agreement, the 95 effected NAB staff will be offered employment with Advantra.
Glenn Mescher, CIO of the National Australia Bank, said: "The National is looking to transform the delivery of its internal desktop services. The real driver of this is about improving our service capability while also reducing costs both in IT and the business."
The outsourcing arrangement will cover more than 1200 NAB sites around Australia.
NAB announced it would outsource the desktop service group and PC helpdesk late last year and called for proposals from seven pre-selected companies.
