iWay Software also outlines Free Trial Adapter Download for Java-based applications

Sydney – 1 July, 2003 – iWay Software, an Information Builders company that accelerates business integration, today announced the formation of the iWay Adapter Factory Division. Sagent, Software AG, Sonic Software, and Sterling Commerce, among others, can now offer iWay Intelligent Adapters to integrate core products to other packaged applications, legacy systems, e-business networks, and vertical industry solutions such as HIPAA, HL7, and SWIFT. The company also outlined its free trial adapter download to demonstrate the simplicity of connecting disparate data to Java-based applications.

Since its launch in January 2002, the iWay Software Adapter Factory has delivered open, intelligent, reusable adapters and transformation technologies that access virtually any information system with an absolute minimum of custom integration code.

"The software vendor community is coming to grips with the 'last mile' problem," says Jon Piercey, Country Manager of Information Builders. "Many vendors offer valuable software solutions, but their value is diminished because the vendors lack a comprehensive and powerful adapter offering to complete the last mile of integration. Our partners know how difficult this problem is. They don't want to staff up an organisation that specialises in every system their customers might have.

Providing a powerful and easy-to-use Universal Adapter Framework that enables virtually any application or integration tool to complete the last mile of integration to over 250 diverse information resources is iWay Software's core competency. The iWay adapter product line lets them do that by providing pre-tested off-the-shelf components instead of custom code."

"In the realm of application integration, connectivity and information sharing represent two of the most significant challenges," said Mr Stephen Hendrick, group vice president at IDC. "Connectivity is often addressed through the use of adapters and/or middleware products. iWay Software is one of a small number of vendors with a successful track record in bringing adapter technology to the market."

Continuing Intelligent Adapter Integration

The company continued its success in bringing its adapter technology to market with the free trial of iWay adapter downloads to integrate over two hundred enterprise information systems with any J2EE application server.

Immediately available is the iWay J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA) Resource Adapter as well as iWay Intelligent Adapters for SAP, Siebel, PeopleSoft, Oracle Applications, J.D. Edwards, Lawson, and RDBMS – an adapter that provides transactional connectivity to Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Informix, Sybase, and IBM DB2 databases. The download is available at www.iwaysoftware.com/products/adapters/jca.html.
Also available is the iWay Application Explorer, a metadata generation tool that enables point-and-click introspection and metadata creation for enterprise information systems.
The iWay JCA Resource Adapter easily plugs into any J2EE application server, allowing any of iWay's more that 200 adapters to connect into common J2EE Application Servers, including BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Fujitsu Interstage, SAP, and SunONE.
"By offering our adapters online, we are showcasing the simplicity of integrating enterprise applications within J2EE application frameworks," continued Piercey. "Customers want proven integration technologies and with this trial download, they can get a firsthand working knowledge of a practical technical solution."
