Telstra, PCCW deny entry into Japan market

Reach, the 50-50 Internet backbone joint venture between Telstra and Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW) has declined to confirm speculation that it is in talks to form a partnership with either Japan Telecom or Japan's KDDI.

A Reach spokesperson said the company had no specific targets. The company had indicated earlier that it is reviewing all operations in Asia.

An unsourced Hong Kong Economic Times report said Reach is in talks to link up with Japan Telecom, Japan's third largest telco.
