Canberra govt schools get broadband net

The ACT Department of Education and Community Service has reached an agreement to connect all Canberra government schools to the TransACT broadband network over the next three years.

TransACT has also agreed to extend the offer to nongovernment schools in Canberra.

The service will allow DECS to improve its EduNet network, which links the department and schools for administration.

The department said high-speed connection and access to the Internet, videoconferencing, interactive classes and an increase in the range of subjects on offer are expected outcomes of the deal.
