Stratos & Concert team for remote comms solutions

Concert, a joint venture between AT&T and BT, and Stratos Global Corporation have joined forces to offer integrated voice communication solutions for the maritime, mining, oil and gas and government sectors.

The companies said they are aiming to deliver integrated fixed, wireless and satellite services for customers who not only need highly reliable, cost-competitive international telecommunications between their main offices, but also need these services to extend to ships at sea and other remote sites, such as mines and off-shore rigs.

The solution range of terrestrial and satellite services includes the Concert marine network -- designed for the shipping industry -- and the voice-integrated platform service, offering virtual private network (VPN) functionality and migration possibilities to Internet protocol-based technologies.

Dave Nishball, vice president for Concert in Asia-Pacific, said: "This agreement with Stratos will enable maritime and mining customers to access all their communications services from a single provider."
