As part of its rebranding campaign, Fujitsu will rename its two IT services and consulting subsidiaries, DMR Consulting and U.K-based ICL, the Japanese conglomerate announced Thursday.
"Over the last 12 months, Fujitsu has been involved in a worldwide branding campaign. Though the name ICL is well known in the U.K., it was felt that worldwide, changing the name would bring better brand recognition," said U.K.-based Fujitsu spokesman Colin Thompson.
The name changes will be completed in March 2002 and further details of the corporate rebranding will be released in September, Fujitsu said in a statement.
ICL will be renamed Fujitsu Transaction Solutions, Thompson said. He did not know what the new name for DMR would be and U.K. representatives for DMR could not be reached for immediate comment.
As part of the restructuring and rebranding, Fujitsu's consulting units will work more closely with the parent company, which produces IT software and hardware products including PCs, servers, hard disk drives, storage devices, semiconductors, telecommunication products and Internet software.
An example of such a joint project already under way is Fujitsu's InfraCare, which offers managed IT services and outsourcing services for data centers, networks and desktops, the company said.
