Clarity scores $8.5 million US deal

Australian software developer Clarity International has signed a $8.5 million deal with US-based El Paso Global Networks Company (EPGN) for the supply of inventory and order management solutions for telecommunications and merchant trading.

The first phase of the project, to be completed by July 2001, will deliver inventory management.

El Paso Corporation, one of the largest and most broadly based natural gas companies in the world and the third largest utility in the US, owns EPGN.

It plans to leverage its experience in energy trading business to telecommunications bandwidth trading and to make EPGN one of the largest telecommunications carriers in the US. To enable this the company is deploying a new generation Internet protocol (IP) and optical fibre network throughout the US.
