SAP, Palm team on mobile CRM

SAP AG and Palm announced a joint technology, sales and marketing alliance aimed at enabling mobile access to enterprise portals, customer relationship management and supply chain management Wednesday at the Sapphire conference in Orlando.

The alliance will marry Palm's handheld computers to SAP's e-business system, allowing mobile users access to their SAP systems from any Internet-connected Palm device, the companies said in a news release. While both companies will sell the systems, the deal also lays the groundwork for future collaboration and beta testing between the two, the companies said.

Wireless Internet access on Palm devices is available in a number of ways, including through the company's Palm VII device, which includes a built-in wireless modem, and through a series of add-on modems.
