Existing Boost Mobile customers won’t be transferred to the Telstra network when Boost moves there from Optus this coming January, Telstra said.
Boost and Telstra entered into a retail alliance earlier this week to let Boost Mobile use the Telstra network. Boost, which sells prepaid phones and wireless broadband, will formally end its 12-year relationship with Boost Mobile on 21 January.
Today, Telstra revealed that only customers who sign up for Boost Mobile after the transition will be placed on Telstra’s Next G Network.
“Any customer who has purchased or purchases before 21 January 2013 a Boost branded prepaid mobile or prepaid mobile broadband service currently supplied on the Optus network will continue to receive their service from Optus after that date unless they choose to move to another provider,” Telstra said.
The Boost Mobile brand is to remain intact after the move to Telstra.
Telstra said the agreement is part of an effort to build new growth businesses and increase its customer base.
