The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) and the Australian Data Capture Association (ADCA) have merged forming a super-industry body with more than 400 members.
The merge was decided because members of both associations are involved with data management, said Michel Hedley, the AIIA's corporate relations manager.
Both associations would benefit from the synergies of shared expertise and a broader membership base, Hedley said.
The merged entity will remain as the AIIA and will continue its efforts to build the Australian IT&T industry, Hedley said. A special interest group will be formed from 1 July 1999 to reflect ADCA member's interests. Geoffrey Ramadan, ADCA's chairman, has been invited to join the AIIA Board.
