EDS and customer relationship management (CRM) software vendor E.piphany Inc. on Wednesday are set to publicly announce an arrangement whereby EDS will resell E.piphany's E.5 suite.
Through a worldwide software licensing agreement, EDS will incorporate E.piphany's E.5 suite into its integrated CRM offerings and also offer the suite on a hosted, outsourced basis for customer sites.
"What [E.piphany's suite] gives us is an easily deployable system [that] we believe offers ease of use," said Mike Littell, president of customer relationship management at Plano, Texas-based EDS.
"It's customer-friendly, it also is very easily deployable system in terms of installation and implementation at the customer site," Littell said.
The agreement between the companies actually went into effect five weeks ago, but the companies just now feel the partnership has the "momentum" to where it can be made public, according to officials at San Mateo, Calif.-based E.piphany.
The partnership links EDS, which provides outsourced services, with E.piphany's CRM offerings, something that EDS not develop itself, said Brian Bennett, E.piphany president of indirect channels.
"We develop CRM software," and EDS does not, Bennett said. "They are the leader worldwide in developing outsourced services. We do not offer hosted solutions," said Bennett.
EDS' presence in outsourced call centers was of particular interest to E.piphany, according to E.piphany officials.
