It is AT&T's first Android 4.0 smartphone and will run on the carrier's 4G LTE network. AT&T calls the device a "4G LTE entertainment superphone" given its video and audio capabilities paired with fast wireless connections. Pre-orders begin on Sunday.
The One X has a 4.7-in. HD touchscreen (1280 x 720 resolution) that features the ability to see images even when the phone is angled up to 80 degrees. A laminated cover glass and touch layer are designed to reduce light reflection.
The HTC Sense 4 interface is included in the One X, offering lens, photo sensor and software improvements. The phone also has Beats By Dr. Dre audio, which AT&T described as distortion-free sound at higher volume and rich bass."
A rear-facing, 8-megapixel HD camera is included, which can be quickly launched from the phone's lock screen. An unusual Video Pic feature originally announced at Mobile World Congress in February allows users to capture still photos while recording video in HD as well as from previously recorded video. The device also has a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera.
The One X has a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S 4 dual-core processor and 16GB of internal storage. It also has an 1,800 mAh battery that puts the device among a group of new phones boasting longer battery life. HTC didn't provide talk times, but said that new software has helped extend the phone's battery life by 50% to 100% over previous HTC phones.
An HTC representative explains the new photo/video features that will come on the HTC One X smartphone at the Mobile World Congress trade show in February.
