British Airways PLC yesterday announced a graphics-based seat-selection process for Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) phone users. British Airways executive Club members will be able to use WAP-enabled phones to check in for certain flights leaving the U.K. and then use a seat map to choose a seat. Flight availability, arrival and departure information are also available as part of a US$17 million technology development program with IBM Corp. Swissair AG has offered check-in via WAP phones for a year, but the seat selection technology is new, according to an IBM spokeswoman.
