3Com Corp. on Wednesday announced a restyling of its U.S. channel partner program and added a program devoted to wireless networking hardware.
Mirroring the structure of its international channel partner program, 3Com's U.S. Focus program will have a three-tier structure. Members will be designated as Gold, Silver or Bronze, depending on their revenue commitment and level of technical certification, 3Com said in a news release.
The level determines the amount of internal resources, sales coverage, marketing support and education the partner will get, 3Com said. The network equipment maker did note that all Focus members will continue to have online access to partner resources such as sales tools, marketing toolkits and 3Com university courses.
Reaffirming the importance of its wireless product portfolio, 3Com said it would add a Wireless Partner Program. To participate, general partner program members are required to have at least one 3Com certified wireless specialist on staff and buy demo equipment. In return, the members will be offered benefits including discounts, priority access to sales leads and early access to products.
3Com said its Focus program, which was launched in its current form in October last year, is a huge success. The program currently has 50,000 members, according to 3Com. The changes announced Wednesday will go into effect on Sept. 1.
