Apple has responded to criticism from human rights organisations about Siri's failure to understand queries about birth control and abortion.
The New York Times reports that Apple attributed the lack of information Siri, the iPhone 4S' voice assistant, could provide on the topics to it still being a beta product.
"Our customers want to use Siri to find out all types of information, and while it can find a lot, it doesn't always find what you want. These are not intentional omissions meant to offend anyone, it simply means that as we bring Siri from beta to a final product, we find places where we can do better and we will in the coming weeks," Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris told the New York Times.
Earlier this week, the same publication reported that bloggers had noticed Siri's seeming inability to direct users to abortion clinics, though in some cases it did offer directions to anti-abortion pregnancy centres.
