Centennial Park has been recognised for its in-house intranet site, with the Local Government Association (LGA) awarding the cemetery a major safety award.
Touted as a one-stop shop for managing occupational health, safety and welfare (OHS&W), the South Australian cemetery picked up the major metropolitan award for best practice in occupational health and safety in the LGA’s workers compensation scheme.
Centennial Park CEO, Bryan Elliott, said the win was thanks to the all-in-one nature of the website, which has become the main vehicle for the management of all occupational health, safety and welfare procedures for every staff member.
“The development of a central electronic management system for all OHS&W policies and procedures, as well as intensive training sessions, has encouraged our entire team to demonstrate a positive and preventative mindset to safety,” Elliott said.
“As OHS&W continues to evolve as a major component of the cemetery industry, it’s vital that our staff members have easy and efficient access to these policies and procedures at the click of a button.”
Implemented in March 2010, the site also documents first aid officers, first aid kit locations, checklists and treatment reports, with Elliot saying that the win was a credit to the Park’s dedicated team.
“Winning this award is exceptional recognition of Centennial Park’s innovation in this area and is a credit to our OHS&W committee who were responsible for identifying and implementing the training and procedures,” Elliott said.
