McAfee ASaP, the managed security services division of Network Associates Inc., said Wednesday that it has added two companies, Watchguard Technologies Inc. and Future Com Ltd., to its partners that resell McAfee ASaP services and products.
McAfee ASaP offers a broad range of managed security services, including an antivirus service called VirusScan ASaP, the security appliance WebShield e500 ASaP and the vulnerability scanner CyberCop ASaP, among other products. These services are always-on and updated regularly by McAfee.
The deal with Watchguard will see the firewall vendor offering antivirus protection to its customers using VirusScan ASaP, said Arvind Narain, senior vice president of McAfee ASaP. The always-on virus protection will complement Watchguard's firewall offerings and marks a trend towards vendors offering multiple, converged security services, Narain said.
Just as a firewall is a key component of enterprise security, "virus protection is part and parcel of security," Narain said. "Customers are clamoring for convergence" and this deal offers that, he said.
Future Com, on the other hand, will offer the full suite of McAfee ASaP products, including antivirus, the WebShield appliance, vulnerability scanning and a firewall. Future Com has a history of working with McAfee as a reseller of its boxed software, Narain said. The managed services will allow Future Com to open up new markets with its existing customers, he said.
Watchguard and Future Com bring the total number of companies offering McAfee ASaP services to around 25, Narain said.
McAfee ASaP services are priced on a per-month, per-desktop model, with subscription terms running between one and two years. The deals with the two companies are multi-year deals, Narain said.
