As more enterprises turn to multi-sourcing as a way to drive down IT costs, minimise delivery risk and increase efficiency, HP Enterprise Services has unveiled a service that aims to facilitate enterprise control of multi-vendor service environments.
Managing more suppliers — including in-house IT groups, hardware vendors, global IT service providers and a host of others — can result in a fragmented view of the IT enterprise, without a clear line of sight across the organisation.
Such inconsistency across various IT environments, processes, support tools and reporting mechanisms often leads to higher costs and greater risk than outsourcing to a single organisation.
According to HP, its new Multi-supplier Integration (MSI) service, expected to be available worldwide at the end of this month, will provide the tools, processes and personnel to more effectively manage a multi-supplier IT environment, as well as a governance framework to align IT policy, service providers and internal decision-makers.
As a single point of contact, the aim, it said, is to not only mitigate the complexities of multi-sourcing IT service management, but to help align the entire IT organisation to the same objectives, business goals and operating rules. MSI will be available through HP’s global IT service delivery system.
