PCCW, IBM form US$300 million alliance

Pacific Century CyberWorks Ltd.'s (PCCW) Business eSolutions division and IBM China/Hong Kong Wednesday signed a 10-year agreement to provide IT services to enterprises and organizations in various industries, the companies said in a joint statement.

The value of the deal is approximately US$300 million, a PCCW spokeswoman confirmed.

The agreement will focus on network integration, open systems management, computing infrastructure, and other technical expertise that the companies described as their "core competencies," according to the statement.

The two technology giants also said they were eyeing not only the Hong Kong market, but Greater China, given China's "imminent" entry into the World Trade Organization.
