ATTO launches iSCSI bridge

ATTO Technology this week rolled out a bridge that lets customers attach existing SCSI storage devices to the Ethernet network.

The ATTO iPBridge 1550E/D is an iSCSI-to-SCSI bridge that uses Microsoft's iSCSI initiator, the IETF v1.0 iSCSI specification and a variety of third-party hardware and software.

The iSCSI-to-SCSI bridge connects SCSI-based storage devices to the Ethernet network, allowing small and midsized enterprises and departments to inexpensively share their storage resources.

The iPBridge 1550 has one Gigabit Ethernet port and a single Ultra160 SCSI port. An integrated management console allows diagnosis of problems and component monitoring.

ATTO also manufactures a Fibre Channel to SCSI bridge that lets customers connect their existing SCSI drives into a storage-area network.

The bridge, which is available now, starts at US$1,200.
