Yellow Dog Linux 2.1 released

Terra Soft Solutions today announced the release of Yellow Dog Linux 2.1, the latest version of their PowerPC Linux solution. The company noted that they're the first PowerPC Linux vendor to offer support for Nvidia Corp. GeForce 2 MX video cards.

Improvements in Yellow Dog Linux 2.1 include:

-- Individual package selection in YDL installer -- KDE 2.2.1 -- XFree86 4.1.0 -- 2.4.10 and 2.2.19 -- Mac-on-Linux 0.9.60, which automatically grabs the ROM image from the Mac OS partition, helping to simply setup.

-- Webmin Web-based admin tool

-- Mozilla 0.9.3

-- Ext3 journaling file system

-- Sound support on iBooks, both original and 2001 models.

-- Sleep support on all PowerBooks and iBooks -- Improved support for Apple Computer Inc. Network Servers -- Support for Nvidia GeForce2 and ATI Radeon video cards. Terra Soft notes that the Apple Display Connector (ADC) is not yet supported.

Yellow Dog Linux can be purchased from authorized resellers or from Terra Soft's own store. The software costs US$29.95 without installation support, or $59.95 with installation support.
