KAZ has announced a managed IT services contract win with supply chain management provider Exel in Australia.
Under the terms of the three-year contract, KAZ assumes responsibility for hosting and managing Exel's IT mission-critical infrastructure for operations across Australia and New Zealand, which will be relocated to a KAZ Data Centre.
Exel employs more than 1300 staff across 27 Australian and New Zealand sites, servicing the region's technology, healthcare, manufacturing and fast-moving consumer goods sectors.
Its services include logistics design, air and sea freight forwarding, warehousing and distribution services, integrated information management and e-commerce support.
To support this growth, Exel has decided to form a strategic partnership with an IT partner capable of supporting the local implementation of its supply chain application tool-set which is based on the IBM eServer pSeries 690.
KAZ has provided support to Exel on a project basis since 2002, and this new contract will see the vendor assume responsibility for Exel's data centre IT infrastructure, which includes hosting services, 24x7 operations monitoring, technical support and support desk services.
Exel Australia and New Zealand chief information officer Todd Brogan said Exel needed an IT partner that understood the organization and could help develop an IT architecture that matched the overall business strategy during a period of rapid growth.
