Qld Health inks deal with Allocate Software

The "multi-million dollar deal" will provide a new staffing management service

Queensland Health has signed a contract with Allocate Software for the implementation of a staffing management service in the aim to ease deployment of temporary staff across the state.

The “multi-million dollar” deal is part of the department’s ‘Nurse on Q’ service which is designed to make the process of hiring and managing temporary staff more efficient.

The contract, awarded by the Office of the Chief Nursing Officer, will provide the technology in an attempt to overcome current challenges involved in operating complex, multidisciplinary teams across a large geographical area.

The Office of the Chief Nursing Officer director, Cheryl Burn, said the new system would support the department in delivering services to patients.

“By automating the planning of casual and agency staff and reporting across our teams, this sophisticated technology will provide a statewide locum management service that will improve continuity of care, save time, and reduce errors while promoting regulatory compliance and improving financial returns,” Burn said in a statement.

“The solution will be used by the organisation to provide in excess of 5400 rural and remote placement weeks and manage up to 100,000 agency assignments.”

According to Burn, it will also protect against potential future staffing shortages by more effectively managing the deployment of locum nurses and midwives across Queensland.

The system will assist the department in minimising management overheads, reduce costs for the agency and ease reporting and auditing. By replacing existing manual processes the organisation will achieve more effective management, planning and deployment of all locum nursing and midwifery workforce operating across the state.
