The advertising agency providing online marketing expertise to Determinet, the new Internet services offering from PricewaterhouseCoopers, does not have a Website.
Determinet, a partnership between PwC, Sun Microsystems, Microsoft and advertising agency BAM SSB, will provide clients with application development and Internet strategies. It will combine PwC's technology and integration skills with product expertise from Microsoft and Sun and BAM's marketing communication skills.
Ironically, BAM does not have its own Website. Reg Moses, chief executive of BAM SSB, said the agency did not need a site.
"We're not going to put up brochureware," Moses said. "We could put up the grooviest site in the world but what's the purpose? I haven't seen an advertising agency Website that's not terrible."
Moses said BAM was currently working with PwC to set up an extranet for a closed audience of clients.
"BAM is not endeavouring to be a technologist," said PwC senior managing consulting services partner Fred Balboni, defending the agency's Website stance. "Communication and marketing are its core expertise."
