Cisco to announce new IP telephony products

Cisco Systems Inc. is planning to announce new infrastructure and software products for IP (Internet Protocol) telephony, focused on the corporate voice market, a company spokeswoman said Monday.

The announcement will be made next Monday and will include products used in customer call centers and for service providers, said Nancy Darma, a Cisco spokeswoman.

Cisco's announcement will build on the company's AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data), used for unified voice and data networks. The company announced AVVID-related VoIP (voice over IP) products in April and next week's news will build on that, she said.

The VoIP products released in April included a new version of Cisco's Unity unified messaging server for voice mail and e-mail, voice recognition software and software to give IP phones access to corporate Web servers.
