Opengear grows export sales 50%

Infrastructure management solution provider Opengear is targeting 50 per cent sales growth for 2011 after growing export sales by that percentage in 2010

Infrastructure management vendor, Opengear, has revealed it grew its export sales by 50 per cent in 2010 and expects its whole business to increase at this rate through 2011.

The company, which currently sells over 80 per cent of its remote management tools to overseas customers, said it had expanded its partners and resellers by more than 65 per cent last year.

Most of Opengear's sales to date have come from the USA.

But CEO Bob Waldie said the strong Australian dollar is leading the company to focus its attention on developing more local business.

“Half of our staff are in Australia and with the Australian dollar... not looking to weaken, we need be careful to ensure sales success at the top line flows through to bottom line profitability,” he said.

To this end, the company has appointed Dr Brendan Baker as business development manager of Australia and New Zealand.

Baker, who was formerly involved in ICT research at QUT, will be tasked with helping develop management solutions to customers in the markets.

Waldie said the company is also aiming for growth in Europe via the UK subsidiary it established in January.

Opengear had previously been targeting 45 per cent sales growth for its business in 2011.
