With its latest version of Internet testing software and services, known as PointForward 3.0, Compuware enabled the offerings to test and monitor software inside the firewall.
"Now you're able to gain diagnostic information on how applications are performing inside the firewall, as well as outside, even though the testing is done remotely," said Mike Killian, product manager for PointForward, at Compuware, in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
He continued that PointForward provides reliability, integrity, scalability, and performance monitoring testing. The application status is viewable via a single portal-type interface. Killian said that the portal can tell users what problems exist, where in the network they are located, and what the cause is.
Theresa Lanowitz, an analyst at Stamford, Connecticut-based Gartner Group Inc. said in a statement that monitoring behind firewalls can provide a competitive advantage for customers, and a single view into the applications running a business is critical.
PointForward 3.0 will be generally available in late October.
