Software vendor BEA Systems Inc. is teaming with business consultancy Andersen on a marketing and sales alliance, the companies said Tuesday.
The two companies said they will expand programs training Andersen consultants on BEA's WebLogic E-Business Platform, a software tool from BEA's extensive WebLogic suite that is intended to aid enterprise implementations of various Web services. The WebLogic E-Business Platform's components include BEA's WebLogic Server, WebLogic Personalization Server and WebLogic Integration software for linking the operations of online trading partners.
Andersen's partnership with BEA "is just our way of letting our clients know that we have people trained on these products," said Andersen spokeswoman Mary Hall.
BEA's WebLogic competes against IBM Corp.'s WebSphere and Oracle Corp.'s database and e-business software. Andersen also has a partnership with IBM; Andersen consultants will choose which products to recommend -- IBM's, BEA's, or another vendor's -- based on clients' needs, Hall said.
BEA and Andersen, in partnership with content management software developer Stellent Inc. (formerly IntraNet Solutions), said they plan to co-host a series of seminars about enterprise portal deployment as part of their alliance. Information about the seminars, which are targeted at Fortune 1000 company executives, is available at http://www.stellent.com/andersenbea/.
