Australian-based global IT research company, Ideas International, has appointed Ed Binney to the newly created position of chief information officer (CIO).
Binney most recently held the position of IT director at Goodman Fielder, and has 17 years experience in IT across a range of industries including food manufacturing, oil and petroleum, travel and financial services.
At Goodman Fielder for two years, Binney oversaw the systems integration and rationalisation for manufacturing, financial sales, logistics and reporting at the Milling and Food Services divisions, resulting from the acquisition of Bunge Defiance.
Binney's experience also includes six years general management, which most recently included working at travel.com.au during its IPO and listing on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Before this role, Binney spent nine years at Thomas Cook culminating in his position as IT director Asia Pacific, where he implemented major infrastructure change, networking more than 200 sites across the region and introducing Intranet services to the group.
Binney holds and Honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Technology, Sydney.
