Supply chain maker i2 Technologies Inc. Monday introduced new enhancements to its Five. Two platform aimed at helping companies better synchronize supply chain management with demand.
The enhancements to the supply and demand collaboration products within Five. Two should help companies cut down on excess inventory, allowing them to save more money, i2 said. Five. Two is i2's business platform that enables enterprises to manage transactions from multiple sources.
The collaboration products are designed to assist companies in understanding, predicting and managing their customers' demands via collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment. They also enable companies to manage inventory visibility and order execution.
With the enhancements, the i2 collaboration tools now enable collaboration across multiple tiers, meaning suppliers can work with other suppliers and/or customers can collaborate with other customers. I2 also integrated supply chain planning and factory planning, enabling businesses to communicate orders in real-time. Prior to the enhancement, businesses communicated orders in batches on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The software also now includes a prioritize and resolve exception that alerts companies when problems occur.
"I like the fact they're focusing on the planning level - collaboration is done in real-time," said Steve Banker, an analyst at ARC Advisory Group.
The enhancements are available now, i2 said.
